Liquid Vitamins from Liquid Vitality
Ingredients: Vitamin B1 Benfotiamine

Benfotiamine. In the human body there are two general realms, the water realm and the fat realm. Most nutrients are either water soluble or fat soluble, and, as such, they are permitted to enter the appropriate realm.

Japanese scientists figured out a way to slightly modify thiamine (traditional B1 vitamin) so as to turn it into a fat soluble substance, thus allowing it to enter parts of the cells where water soluble compounds cannot go.

One particular area where this is critical is when a vascular cell is bombarded by glucose. In a water soluble environment, thiamine would be able to handle the glucose, but in this environment, hyperglycemia and rampant damage to blood vessels occurs.

Benfotiamine's safety has been well established, as it's been used for over a decade in Germany to treat nerve pain in diabetics.

Benfotiamine was also found to have blocked activation of the pro-inflammatory transcription factor nuclear factor-kappa beta, which has been associated with inflammation, tumor formation, and macular degeneration, and retinal disease in diabetics.

The blocking of nuclear factor-kappa beta has been shown to improve the prognosis of arthritis patients, as well, stimulating further research into benfotiamine therapies.
